Introduction:

1. The corrosion of protected and unprotected metallic materials is influenced by many environmental factors, primarily depending on the type of metallic material and the type of environment. Designing a laboratory accelerated corrosion test chamber that encompasses all environmental factors affecting corrosion resistance is impossible; therefore, laboratory tests are designed to simulate the factors that play a major role in the corrosion of metallic materials. This equipment is designed to simulate and enhance the effects of the environment on metallic materials exposed to outdoor atmospheres with salt pollution that accelerates corrosion. The equipment includes test methods that cyclically expose samples to salt spray, dry, and humid environments. This equipment is a comparative test, and the results cannot predict the long-term corrosion resistance of the same metallic material used under these environmental conditions. However, this method can still provide valuable information on the relevant properties of materials exposed to salt pollution environments similar to the test conditions. The greatest advantage of this equipment compared to traditional accelerated corrosion tests, such as neutral salt spray (NSS), acetic acid salt spray (AASS), and copper accelerated acetic acid salt spray (CASS), is its ability to better reproduce corrosion occurring in outdoor salt pollution environments.

2. This equipment is suitable for accelerated corrosion testing of: metals and their alloys, metal coatings (anodic and cathodic), conversion coatings, anodic oxide coatings, organic coatings on metallic materials, etc.

Test conditions:

This composite salt spray test chamber conforms to the salt-dry-wet composite test method: salt spray test → hot air forced drying test → humidification test

(A) Salt spray test: NSS, ACSS, CASS

(1) Neutral and acidic salt spray test:

Laboratory temperature: 35℃ ±1℃

Saturation tank temperature: 47℃ ±1℃

(2) Copper accelerated salt spray test:

Laboratory temperature: 47℃ ±1℃

Saturation tank temperature: 63℃ ±1℃

Heating system

1) Mixing Chamber: Employs a titanium alloy heater and a powerful circulating fan for air circulation. P.I.D. (Power I.D.) control of heating output achieves temperature equilibrium.

2) Test Chamber: Utilizes titanium alloy heating elements for direct air heating. P.I.D. control of heating output achieves temperature equilibrium.

3) Pressure Tank: Employs titanium alloy heating elements for water heating. Compressed air enters the hot water and overflows as bubbles. P.I.D. control of heating output maintains a constant temperature and produces pure spray gas.

Air circulation system

With a built-in air chamber and stainless steel circulating fan, the air is blown out evenly through the air duct via dampers and diffusers, distributing the balanced temperature and humidity in the conditioning chamber to the test space, thereby achieving the purpose of uniform temperature and humidity control.

Humidification and dehumidification system

Set the automatic spray function according to the program, The spray volume can be adjusted by adjusting the height of the spray tower.

Defogging method

Set the automatic defogging function according to the program; Compressed air is introduced into the chamber room and then the indoor fog is expelled, quickly defogging the air.

Cyclic working mode

The machine operates using a dry/wet and salt spray separate control mode. Intelligent TS time signal control allows for periodic or continuous spraying, achieving automatic operation of drying, humidity, and salt spray cycles.

Sample rack

1. The test chamber uses a PVC triangular groove with an indexing frame mounted on the inner wall, allowing for adjustable test specimen angles. Fogging is uniform on all four sides, ensuring a large number of test pieces can be placed.

2. The perforated PP plate sample placement platform is located at the bottom of the chamber. The platform's evenly spaced perforations allow for rapid drainage of the sprayed liquid, enabling the placement of large samples for testing.

Chamber material

1) Inner Chamber: Constructed of PP polypropylene board, offering excellent insulation.

2) Outer Chamber: Constructed of imported PP polypropylene board, aesthetically pleasing.

3) Laboratory Sealing Lid: Constructed of PP polypropylene board, featuring one-button automatic opening, a transparent observation window, and a defogging device for clear observation during experiments. Double-layered sealing edges ensure a strong seal.

4) Humidifier/Water Supply Tank: Constructed of PP polypropylene board, an external humidifier/water supply tank with a concealed water level gauge. A water purifier is installed at the inlet to effectively filter impurities from the water.

5) Saturation Tank: Constructed with PP pipes for optimal insulation and corrosion resistance.

6) Conditioning Chamber: The inner and outer chambers are made of titanium metal, offering corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, and a long service life.

7) Conditioning Chamber Insulation Material: Rigid polyurethane foam insulation layer.

8) Base: Constructed with painted channel steel encased in PP plastic and includes casters.

9) Air Duct: Specially designed sealed damper device automatically switches between salt spray and temperature/humidity testing.

Working environment

1. Ambient temperature: 5–30℃; Relative humidity: ≤85% RH;

2. Installation site: Flat, vibration-free ground;

3. Equipment: Keep away from heat sources and flammable or explosive substances;

4. Installation location: Avoid direct sunlight and maintain good indoor air circulation;

5. The installation site must be clean and should not be installed in dusty areas or near dust vents.

Storage environment requirements

1. The ambient temperature for the equipment should be maintained within the range of 0℃ to +45℃.

2. When the ambient temperature is below 0℃ (if the equipment is to be shut down for an extended period), all water remaining in the equipment should be drained to prevent the water in the pipes from freezing and damaging the pipes.

Installation site requirements

The ground is flat, well-ventilated, and free of flammable, explosive, or corrosive gases and dust; there are no strong electromagnetic radiation sources nearby; the ground's load-bearing capacity is not less than 600 kg/m²; adequate maintenance space is provided around the equipment.
